Origin Story of Pisces In Ancient Greek mythology, there was once a great monster named Typhon who sought to overthrow the gods and become the ruler of the universe. In order to escape his wrath, many of the gods and goddesses transformed themselves into various animals and sought refuge in the rivers and streams of the world. It was during this chaotic time that two fish, Aphrodite and her son Eros, found themselves swimming upstream in the Euphrates River. As they eluded Typhon's reach, they found themselves stuck in a narrow section of the river, unable to move forward. In a desperate attempt to save themselves, they prayed to the goddess of the river, who took pity on them and transformed them into the constellation now known as Pisces.
