an American dad, one of the most exciting things about having a child is getting to choose their name. It's a big responsibility to give someone a moniker that they will carry with them for the rest of their life, so I wanted to make sure I got it right. I looked to my own family history for inspiration and decided to honor my grandfather by giving my son his name as a middle name. For his first name, I wanted something unique but not too outlandish. I ultimately settled on a name that has a strong meaning and sounded good with his middle and last name. Naming your child can be an emotional and personal decision, and one that can spark a lot of opinions and reactions from others. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is that the name feels right for your child and your family. As my son grows up, I hope he likes his name and embraces the significance behind it. And if he ever decides that he doesn't like it, or wants to go by a nickname, that's okay too. Because ultimately, a name is just a small part of who someone is, and it's the person that truly matters.
